Etihad Airways Presents Fashion Weeks Most Inspiring Designer Award
Etihad Airways has teamed up with Fashion Pakistan to present “Pakistan’s Most Inspiring Designer” award to Zaheer Abbas. Zaheer wowed fashion aficionados at the recent Fashion Pakistan Week, held in Karachi.
Zaheer, who was also named as the “Best Emerging Talent in Fashion” at the prestigious Lux Style Awards, was chosen in an online poll posted on the Etihad Airways’ Facebook page and the votes received from the members of the Fashion Pakistan Council.
One lucky Etihad Airways Facebook fan, Kamran Hashim, also won 15,000 Etihad Guest Miles by taking part in the poll.
Zaheer is best known for his love for light fabrics such as chiffon, airy silhouettes and attention to detail. His designs are available in various stores in Karachi, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and London.
Etihad Airways’ Area General Manager for Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal, Amer Khan, said: “I would like to congratulate Zaheer on winning this award. It has been a long standing policy at Etihad Airways to encourage fashion, arts and culture worldwide. We are proud to lend our support to Pakistan’s burgeoning fashion industry and to be associated with Fashion Pakistan Week for the second year in a row.”
The Fashion Pakistan Week is organised by the Fashion Pakistan Council to promote and support the fashion industry in the country and promote traditional Pakistani crafts and fashion.

Etihad Diamond Designer Award
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, and the official airline for the 4th Pakistan Fashion Week recently held in Karachi, presented the Etihad Diamond Designer Award to Mr. Deepak Perwani, for his achievements and 20 years contribution to the fashion industry in Pakistan. The picture shows Mr. Amer Khan, Area General Manager for Pakistan, Bangladesh & Nepal presenting the award to Mr. Perwani along with the jury member of the award Ms Ronak Lakhani.
Etihad Airways The Official Airline Of The 4th Fashion Pakistan Week
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, was named as the Official International Airline of the 4th Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) which was recently held on 21st to 23rd of October at Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi.
Fashion Pakistan is the country’s pioneer and largest platform that provides a much-needed boost to its fashion industry. As a part of the Council of International Fashion Designers, it was created to promote and support the industry in the global market place. FPW’s key objective is to educate, empower and encourage designers alongside efforts to promote traditional crafts. This platform attempts to promote mainstream designers and encourage young talent.
Etihad Airways invited voting for the most inspiring designer award on its facebook page. The winner of the Etihad most inspiring designer contest will be awarded on a morning show on HUM TV on the 6th or 7th of November, 2012. Besides that, Etihad Airways presented the Etihad Diamond Designer Award to Mr. Deepak Parwani for his achievements and contributions to the fashion industry in Pakistan.

Fashion Pakistan Week achieved their first landmark with the huge success of Fashion Pakistan Week 1, 2 and 3. Misha Lakhani Debuts Her Elegant Pre-Fall 2012 Collection At Her First Outlet Launch
Misha Lakhani launched her namesake debut collection and boutique on E-Street Clifton, Karachi on Thursday 30th August. The label is comprised of ready-to-wear and couture.
Misha Lakhani’s eponymous fashion label reflects a sense of relaxed and timeless elegance. Striking a balance between tradition and modern, Misha creates collections that express a unique sense of personal style. Film, art deco and vintage craftsmanship have been lifelong inspirations for Misha, whose signature style is an eclectic aesthetic.
“It’s the polarity between past and present that holds my breath, opposites complimenting each other in the form of elegant separates that transition effortlessly from day to night.” Said by Misha
She also said “I became a fashion designer because what I craved I couldn’t find in my current context, which is an approach that cuts across many traditional disciplines and gives individual pieces more mileage in terms of wearability.”
The theme of this collection is a colonial transgression. It’s about refining the extravagance of old India by fusing it with the lexicon of international chic. There is a profusion of color, craftsmanship and texture, and beautifully made versatile separates.
The launch event had a fashion presentation, in which models showcased eveningwear that was versatile and beautifully crafted. There were lots updated time-honored silhouettes with contemporary twists, such as high waisted flowy lenghas that could be dressed up or down. Models for the event were Sadaf Kanwal, Abeer, Sehrish , Sana Sarfraz and the showstopper Annie Jaffri.
The launch event, organized by Catwalk Productions and PR by Catalyst PR & Marketing was attended by Bunto Kazmi, Amin Gulgee, Nida Azwer, Farah Khan, Saadia Nawabi, Raana Khan, Neshmia Ahmed, Ronaq Lakhani, Kiran Amman, Nada, Aamna Isani, Kiran Haroon and many other socialites and celebrities.
Pakistan’s talent sparkles at the 11th LUX Style Awards
Pakistan celebrated its most prestigious and glamorous Awards show by honouring style and entertainment last week when the 11th LUX Style Awards were held in Karachi and saw some of the most exciting performances and tributes on stage. Legends like Mehdi Hassan and Ahmed Rushdie were celebrated, a special appreciation award was announced for Emmy and Academy Award winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, a much deserved lifetime achievement in Fashion Award was bestowed on Faiza Samee; and of course to the winners in the regular annual 26 categories encompassing Film, TV, Music and Fashion.
These Lux Style Awards were all about being grander and more glamorous from the ones in the recent past. The host for the 11th Annual LSA was the hilarious and energetic Ahmed Ali Butt who was the find of the year as he was able to entertain the crowd each time he came on for the 5 hour long ceremony.
The glamourous event started with the Zong Red Carpet where guests were interviewed by Momal Jawed Sheikh, wearing a white motif floor length creation by Rizwan Beyg. A plethora of TV channels filled up the entire length of the huge Expo Foyer. The celebrity lineup included all big wigs from the entertainment and fashion industry: Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, Humaima Malik, Meera, Sana, Mathira, Bushra Ansari, Behroze Subswari, Jawed Sheikh, Asif Raza Mir, Momina Durraid, Maria Wasti, Savera Nadeem, Saadia Imaam, Maira Khan, Humayun Sayeed, Faisal Qureshi, Gia Ali, Bindia, Tapu Javeri, Deepak Perwani, and some of the younger generation which included Ahsan Khan, Ayyan Ali, Aisha Linnea, Amna Ilyas, Zoe Viccaji, Rabia Butt, Sanya Muskatiya, Adnan Malik, Ayaz Anis, Raana Khan, Maheen Karim, Maheen Khan, Nabila, Faiza Samee and the list goes on.
The Pond’s Gold Radiance VIP Lounge at the red carpet area served as a picture perfect area for the photographers to capture celebrities with a beautiful ambiance. They were entertained by the model statues who walked around the audiences and were treated to a host of glamourous Pond’s products in the recently launched Gold Radiance range.
The Show opened with a performance based on the mid summer nights dream theme performed by dancers of Act One. A tribute to Ahmed Rushdie was the star act by Lollywood maestro Pappu Samrat. Each song had lead singers, star performers and glamourous chorus dancers which added a depth to the act and made each performance unique and memorable. Saima Azhar began the tribute as the Lal Pari from Ik Uraan Khatola Aye Ga, Meera and Faisal Quereshi (Yeh Adaa Yeh Naaz, Yeh Andaaz Aap Ka), Sana, Faisal and Ahsan (Socha Tha Pyaar Na Karein Gay) Mathira and Junaid Khan (Jaisay Jaantay Nahin) and the foot tapping Cococorina rounded up an amazing tribute to an era gone forever. The singers who sang the remixed Ahmed Rushdie classics were Bilal Khan, Sara Reza, Junaid, Ammanat Ali and Ahmed Jahanzaib.
Acknowledgement tributes were also played out on stage for the best in class Emerging talent of young Pakistani musicians. The three performances that took place were Adil Omer, Ram Lal, and Noman Khalid. Each had creative choreography concepts with each performance that was fresh, energetic and kept the evening alive. All the choreography for this segment and the grand Ali Zafar Finale was done by the incredibly talented Hasan Danish of Act One.
Ali Zafar’s first performance was his tribute to Mehdi Hasan as he and his guitar sang the ever green, ever popular “Mujhe tum nazarr say girra tau rahay ho, Mujhe tum kabhi bhi bhula naa sako gay”. The audience was spell bound and many shed a tear for the old maestro so recently gone from this world and the young superstar who paid so soulful a tribute.
For the grand finale to the 11th LUX Style Awards it was Ali Zafar and Umaima all the way as they danced up a storm on all of Zafar’s great new hits. From the beautiful Jhoom, to the London, Paris, New York numbers of Woh dikhney may and Ting a rang to the fantastically rousing and joyous Meray Brother ki Dulhan number Madhubhala, the paid brought the house down with the surety of their moves, their panache and pizzazz .
The styling and costumes for the event were another highlight of the show. Under the sure guidance of the incomparable Nabila, the LUX Style Awards looked and felt grand on stage. The feel was live theatre, fantastical as well as rooted in the history of this land. The innovative dancer costumes, the quick change star costumes, the strategic props and the way each segment had a distinct look was the hallmark of a maestro who knew her game. The styling too was fresh and innovative ensuring that the LSA look was distinctly contemporary Pakistan.
This year the presenters at Lux Style Awards were all about entertaining the crowds even if for a few moments. Sana wore Zaheer Abbas ,Asif Raza Mir, Momina Duraid, Irfan Khoosat, Ali Zafar wore Amir Adnan, Javaid Sheikh, Bindiya, Savera Nadeem , Ali Safina, Humaima wore Armani, Fahad Mustafa, Nida Yasir wore KFJ, Yasir Nawaz wore Munib Nawaz, Immu wore Gucci, Shahi wore Munib Nawaz, both members of Josh wore Munib Nawaz, Mr Ali Kamran (Country Director Corporate Zong CM Pak) and Zainab Qayyum, Mikaal Hassan , Zoe Viccaji wore Adnan Pardesi , Ayesha Linia & Adnan Malik, Sadia Imam , Faisal Querishi wore Munib Nawaz, Angeline Malik wore Nida Khurram, Junaid wore Imran Rajput, Amanat Ali wore Jazib Qamar, Ayyan Ali wore Deepak Perwani gown, Faakhir wore Munib Nawaz, Amina Illyas wore Zaheer Abbas dress in chiffon ,Farhad Humayun wore Munib Nawaz dress, Maira Khan, Bilal Khan wore Munib Nawaz, Sanam Chaudhri wore Sanam Chaudhry and KFJ, Muhib wore Ismail Fareed.
The night came to rousing end with Madhubhala, the winners took home their elegant silver trophies (affectionately known by all as the luxy) and the 11th Lux Style Awards were finally done and dusted. The show will be telecast on PTV and other channels during the Eid hiatus but moments from the happening Zong Red Carpet will be on TV screens now.
